Education:

Vanderbilt University (Graduating in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Medicine, Health and Society)

Counseling Experience:

At Vanderbilt University, Anna has volunteered as a mentor for local high school students through Vici Prep, an online platform which focuses on connecting younger students to undergraduates at their dream schools. She was also involved as a Learning Assistant for Genetics, volunteered with Global Brigades, participated in research, and worked an on-campus job. Her wide range of experiences has allowed her to meet a diverse group of students and taught her how each individual can contribute to the success of the college community. Now, she is starting her own application process as she applies to medical school. She hopes to use what she has learned from high school until now to inspire and mentor her students.

Teaching Philosophy:

Anna believes that every student has their own unique skills and passions that they can bring to their future college campus. Her goal is to help students recognize this potential and demonstrate to the admissions committees how they will thrive as individuals, enrich the experience of their peers, and support their community.

Teaching Experience:

Anna has had experience as a Learning Assistant for Genetics where her main role was to facilitate group and individual learning during synchronous class time, as well as create a small community where students felt free to ask questions and test their knowledge. She also volunteered with Vanderbilt Student Volunteers for Science for 4 years. As part of this organization, she taught STEM lessons to middle school students in the Nashville area. As a senior in high school, she worked as a private tutor teaching AP Statistics.

Teaching Philosophy:

"No matter where you are in your education or career, you can always learn from your mentors and peers. We are all students in this sense. Also, everyone has a different style of learning, and their unique perspectives should be used to enhance their own learning experience and the experience of those around them."

Interesting Fact:

Anna studied abroad in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in Spring 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic, and she cannot wait to go back. Anna has also received a 99% percentile on her MCAT.
