Education:

Vanderbilt University (B.A. in Psychology with Honors, Spanish, and Second Language Studies)

Vanderbilt University (M.Ed in English Language Learners)

Counseling Experience:

Haley has much applied experience in applications at the collegiate level - undergraduate, graduate, research assistant, and Fulbright. Each of these applications requires different skills that she has honed and readily shares them with others. She has helped peers complete all these applications by editing essays, reviewing resumes, and leading mock interviews, and almost all the people she's aided have succeeded in their application process.

Counseling Philosophy:

"Those who look at applications see only a small part of the applicant. My goal is for that small part to represent both the best and the most comprehensive aspects of the applicant. Resumes, essays, interviews, GPAs, test scores - all of the components of an application show one part of the applicant, and I'll help people fit them together to tell a story."

Teaching Experience:
Haley has both domestic and international teaching experience, both formal and informal. In 2017, she spent 3 months in Thailand as a volunteer English teacher at a vocational school for young adults with physical disabilities, and in 2019 she spent 6 months leading a Speaking English group in Spain for college students. Additionally, as part of her Masters of Education program, she student-taught in an ESL high school English classroom. This is all on top of years of peer tutoring in a variety of subjects including English, Spanish, and Psychology.

Educational Philosophy:

Haley's goal is for students to know not just about the subject material, but to know how to use it beyond the classroom. She tries to connect what she teaches to her students'  hobbies, goals, and interests. She believes that the true value of education is using what we learn in school to advance ourselves, our community, and our society.

Interesting Fact:
Haley speaks 5 languages - English, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and American Sign Language.
