Maha Nadeem - Headshot_edited.jpg

Education:

The University of Texas at Dallas (B.S. in Neuroscience)

Teaching Experience:

While at UT Dallas, Maha worked as a Peer Led Team Leader at the Student Success Center, where she led as a mentor and tutor specializing in Differential and Integral Calculus for 3 years. She guided 40+ students in a classroom setting, working through core concepts and strategies for tackling difficult calculus problems. She acted as a resource for any questions or confusions on a one-on-one basis and helped host department wide exam reviews.

Educational Philosophy:

"Through my previous teaching roles, I’ve become a strong advocate of student centered teaching practices. Flipping the traditional “instructors teach, students listen” approach and allowing students to guide their own learning experiences tends to build better retention and confidence of material. In addition, I strongly feel that academic development is linked directly to social and emotional comfort in learning spaces. I strive to make sure the classroom is a safe space where students feel comfortable asking questions and being themselves. "

Interesting Fact:

Maha is a theatre geek at heart and put her blood and tears into it in high school (literally, she was hit in the face by a plank once). She has 2 Ragdoll cats (Kiko and Miney), loves sushi (the fried kind), and thrives on attending concerts last minute (Harry styles, Coldplay, and Amine being her recent highlights).
