Tessa began college counseling as a volunteer for an indigenous Mexican high school in Los Angeles during college. She later spent a year as an Americorps College Counselor for College Possible at a high school in South Seattle, working with a cohort of 25 low-income students.
She believes in addition to creating a well-rounded college application together, the space she shares with students and their parents should be inclusive, trusting and collaborative. She understands that the perfect fit college may vary for each student depending on their interests, financial constraints and compatibility. The college application process is stressful, but she wants to support her students through every step.
She spent a year teaching English in Japan through the JET program. In Japan, she was the first teacher from her program to work at the school. She also worked as a biology lab teaching assistant at Pomona College.
Tessa loves the outdoors and thinks the Pacific Northwest has the best hikes!
