Rice University (Political Science and Policy Studies, B.A.)

Counseling Experience:

For four years, Matilda served as a workshop leader and mentor for Rice Vietnamese Student Association's College Leadership Workshop, an annual day-long event that strives to educate Houston-area high school students about the college admissions process and college life.

 

 

Counseling Philosophy:

"Through focusing on passions and unique stories rather than numbers, I hope to ease some of the stress in this already daunting process and guide students to crafting applications that let their potential shine through."

Teaching Experience:

Matilda worked as a teaching assistant at Kyunghee University in Seoul, South Korea for the Rice-in-
Korea intensive language program, where she gave lessons in Korean to university students. She has also helped high school students improve their college admissions essays through the annual College
Leadership Workshop hosted by the Rice Vietnamese Student Association.

Teaching Philosophy: 

“I believe communicating with and understanding students is crucial in fostering an effective learning
environment. Through this personal approach, I hope to provide students the tools to not only succeed in their endeavors, but also to sustain intellectual curiosity that goes beyond quick tips and rote memorization.”

 

Interesting Fact:

Matilda was born in Singapore and went back to study abroad in the country during her junior year,
where she scoped out all the good food spots.
