Education:

Columbia University (B.A., History & Philosophy)

Counseling Experience:

Nick helped peers write, edit, and expand their college admissions essays as a peer tutor in his high school's writing center. Taking on the college search and application processes himself taught him the challenges and rich opportunities afforded by participation in such a rigorous undertaking at a formative age. Since, Nick has passionately assisted peers and private clients in crafting strong and original material for graduate education, college, and high school admissions essays. His five years of experience in grant writing -- helping organizations translate their mission, vision, and programming into compelling, lucid narratives -- have especially equipped him to assist students with scholarship and fellowship applications, alongside other personal narratives supporting undergraduate and graduate study.

Counseling Philosophy:

"The college search and application process challenges students to reflect, communicate, and act on what exactly makes them who they are. I work to create a warm, open environment where students can build the skills and confidence to rigorously explore their interests, establish a coherent understanding of their unique life and learning narratives, and hone their voices to demonstrate what will make them passionate and distinctive contributors to any learning community."

Teaching Experience:

In Nick's earliest pedagogical experience, he served as a peer tutor in his high school's writing center. The opportunity to work with a broad cross-section of passionate and developing students cemented his passion for helping others mobilize their strengths to achieve their goals and actualize their potential. Since his high school days, Nick has worked as a private tutor and grant writer and has led public philosophy learning groups at Columbia University.

Teaching Philosophy:

"I believe that education should awaken passion through authentic engagement, attunement, and empathy -- all students have the potential to achieve and exceed their learning goals when furnished with the right tools, the right learning environment, and the right relationships. With a holistic, compassionate, and highly tailored approach to teaching, I work and grow alongside each learner as they forge their own path toward their intellectual aims."

Interesting Fact:

In his spare time, Nick enjoys playing guitar and producing digital music. He is currently learning the piano and moonlights as a vocalist (during singalongs in the car).
